The idea is simple enough, you state what you want moved from A to B and you hope that some carrier that already intended to go in that general direction will scan your "advert" and quote. There is a customer feedback system which may instil or remove confidence in individual carriers. I have only used it twice so far, both times small 1 or 2 van firms with good prior feedback. Both teams "delivered" and I would be happy to use them again. The "auction fee" (payable when you accept a quote) is very high for the service that Shiply itself provides and I was not amused to learn that the deposit that you pay on acceptance does not go to the carrier but is also grabbed by Shiply. It turns out that the service that the carriers provided was done at bargain rates, thank you gentlemen, you deserved to receive the deposits. The carriers I used I rate 5 stars, Shiply itself 4.
