Specialised Covers

Prestige - Was I conned? Hmm....

I saw the covers at a recent Classic Car Show and then ordered on line, which was really user friendly. Excellent communication, texts and phone calls, leading up to an on time delivery. Fitting instructions were clear and it was simple to put on the car, and fitted perfectly. I was really pleased at this point, then I took the cover off. The black canopy roof on my Porsche Boxster Spyder was covered with bits of red material. I called Specialised Covers first thing Monday morning and spoke to Alex. He sounded surprised and asked for photographs which I duly emailed him. 24 hours later I had to call as I had heard nothing. They had been busy but it was a known issue and he would get back to me. A further 24 hours and now I was impatient. I sent an email demanding a response within 2 hours as the car, having just been valeted, was being used at my wedding in two days and frankly I was embarrassed at the state of it and wanted answers! Alex rang within 30 minutes and said that they could supply a separate cover for the roof section which the main cover would go over. He would get one of the directors to call me as soon as possible. The Chairman was next to call and he promised to get the cover made that day and hopefully delivered the next day along with a lint brush for me to clean the roof with as this would only take a few minutes. It appears I should have been told about the issue when purchasing but as the order was placed on line I'm not sure how this was possible. Why didn't someone call me? All Boxster Spyders have a material roof so it was a safe bet that I would have a problem. Another suggestion was to wash the cover first. Why was this not in the instructions? Why not a warning in the instructions about canopy roofs? The answer is that maybe people would probably not buy the cover if they knew? No offer of a refund (to be fair I didn't ask) or even some partial refund. No, I got a free lint brush that I had to clean my car with!!! The internal cover arrived the next day at 9.am. The brushing took 10 minutes as the roof was really bad. I haven't tried the cover again but will do once back from honeymoon. Not the best experience and I won't recommend them. Sorry guys - you need to change the literature.
