Paid extra for guaranteed 24 hr, didn't get it

Paid extra for 2 items to delivered guaranteed 24 hrs. Neither showed up, that have been in Birmingham depot for nearly 36 hrs with no sign of movement. These items were for my nephew who is returning to Edinburgh in the morning, looks like i'll have to fork out more money to get them shipped up there. I wont be using DPD for this delivery, i'' stick to Royal Mail.
