Urgent situation covered by quick service - but an expensive solution, as it transpired

We needed to find and replace some 33 volt bulbs as used in most decorative Hanukkah bridges. It was a very busy time, trying to get everything ready for the festive season. I trawled the web, and Gardensite offered packs of three. The standard postage/packing was quite expensive for just one pack of three bulbs, so I bought 2 packs to ensure we had a supply in future and amortise the delivery charge across 6 bulbs rather than just 3.. Buying a new bridge was not a lot more expensive, to be honest, but I don't like throwing things away if we can reuse or repair. The bulbs arrived quickly, and we used two of them straight away to get the bridge shining as it should. However, we did note - on a quick shopping trip - that Robert Dyas had these bulbs for £2.00 or so a pack of three - so it would have been cheaper to just go and get them, pay the parking charges and use the diesel. I'd have been around £6 better off. I acknowledge, though, that buying them this way was my choice.
