Average service delivered in a vague manner.

Took my car in for a brake check at a cost of £20.00. I was aware they were not working correctly and really wanted an analysis of what was wrong with them, plus itemised costings of repair work.

After the inspection I was told what was wrong. The employee was upfront to a point and said that it would be an expensive job at "about £500". He put the wheels back on and his colleague reversed the car out of the pit.

I can appreciate that the guys were busy on this Sunday morning but I was bitterly disappointed that for my £20.00 brake inspection fee I was given nothing on paper to say what new brake parts were needed.

Although I was told what was needed in as few words as possible, it was hard for me (with limited knowledge of car mechanics) to retain this information. It would be very difficult for most customers to retain 100% of this verbal information, hence the importance of recording it onto a computer system (along with costings).
