Slow delivery considering you have to pay for it!

I ordered a single smallish item (mini jellyfish lamp) last Tuesday for my brothers birthday on Saturday. As it was below the £25 free delivery limit I also had to pay £2.99 for delivery.

It is now the following Wednesday and still no sign of the parcel. I do the bulk of my shopping online and rarely ever have to wait this long on a parcel, especially when I've paid for delivery. How comes companies such as ASOS give you free delivery, and manage to get it to you within a few days?

I am disappointed with the delivery service as my brothers pressie is now very late!
