The order for Aquabord panels was processed very efficiently and the delivery (by their own transport) although expensive (at £45) was quick and on time. The board material was as expected from the samples but there were problems during installation. Although the boards were stored flat and at room temperature as recommended, when cut and handled they developed a distinct curvature with the face side on the outside of the curve. As a result when placed against the wall considerable pressure was needed in the centre to force the panel flat to the wall. The Hi-grab adhesive supplied is very powerful and does what it says on the tin (or tube) but was not sufficient to hold the panel flat initially. The fitters eventually solved the problem by using drywall jacks to apply the pressure while the adhesive cured. Once it had cured the panels appeared to be firmly adhering to the wall and the effect is first-class.
It looks as though the balancing laminate on the back of the panels has somewhat different temperature or humidity characteristics to the face laminate, otherwise it is difficult to see how or why the curvature occurred.
