Delivery wasn't express and didn't follow delivery instructions

I ordered the Item on 23rd and paid extra for "Express Delivery". In addition, left instructions for item to be left in safe place near the door. Item finally arrived on 28th and was not left as instructed so will have to pick up from depot.

Dear Mr Formby - Apologies for your displeasure at the speed of our expedited service. Your order was placed on 23rd January and duly despatched the same day. We would generally expect this to have been delivered either the next or following day so I'm sorry it took so long. I can only assume that it became delayed within the Royal Mail system due to the adverse weather conditions that were prevailing that week. There is however no excuse for the item not being left as requested and I'm sure that you will have seen a label on the package requesting the parcel to be left as instructed. We have therefore complied with your instructions but once the item has been collected from us we are unfortunately then in the hands of the delivery agents and trust them to do as asked. Extremely rarely this doesn't occur for whatever reason, which is what I guess has happened on this occasion.
