At Dublin airport Avis insisted on requiring the paper license, which we weren't aware of, then insisted we had to pay £1,400 excess by credit card which would be cancelled once we returned the car in one piece. However, when we signed up via Auto Europe we paid insurance for crash/collision cover, so we could not understand Avis' attitude. This £1,400 had to be verified by the bank which took an age and resulted in two further calls from the bank next day. The Avis operator also attempted to put through an additional payment of £1,100 - not sure why - which is why the bank wanted to talk to us. We were very unhappy with their attitude and we would not use Avis again.
I had a couple of glitches at first as their website wouldn't "play ball" but I persevered because their prices were good and after a few attempts everything loaded properly on screen. The ordering process was simple and I went for standard delivery and the toner cartridges arrived well within the stated time, well packed. Will definitely use again.
