We booked an apartment and paid in full. We were told that a confirmation would be sent within 24 hours. No confirmation was sent and the apartment we booked was still being advertised at a new price (£100 more than we booked it at). The owners obviously thought they could get a better deal by not hiring at original price. Really worried now. Lost £2700 pound and have nowhere to stay. Never use this company.

You didn't receive any confirmation because unfortunately the booking request was never accepted by the host (if you check in your account, the status is "expired"). However, you should have received an email in which we provide alternative accommodation and explain that, if the host doesn't reply within 24h, the whole amount that had been "frozen" while waiting for an answer is completely released. Thus, don't worry, you haven't been debited a single cent for this booking.
At Wimdu we always try to deliver the best experience for all of our users, but we can't directly influence the prices, that are autonomously set by the hosts. We advice them to answer guests' requests as soon as possible and to accept bookings if the accommodation is available.
