Postal charges!!!

As a self employed therapist, I find paying £5.99 (inc. VAT) for a single item far too expensive. If it hadn't been for the fact that the item I ordered has a niche market in the U.K (Biotone) I would have ordered it from another source with lower postal charges. I wonder whether it might have cost less to ship it from America!
However, the sales staff were very helpful and my single item arrived the next day.
