Sunday - ordered a mattress on-line and paid for it. I was attracted by the promise of next day delivery. Fair enough it was not delivered on Monday, I concluded, as the payment had to be verified.
Monday - received a mail advising that the order was confirmed with a tracking link. Followed the link to a World Stores page that informed me that the order had been today. This link also contaied the carriers' shipping number.
Tuesday - being a busy person I contacted Night Freight to get some idea of the time of delivery. Was told that they had the consignment number but NOT the mattress.
Contacted Customer Service who told me that they one had one mattress of the type ordered but this was damaged and dirty. They would not send this. I wonder how they received a shipping number! They would order another from the manufacturer. This would be delivered the following day.
Thursday - Spoke again with Customer Service. Different story. This time the original mattress has been picked up by Night Freight - hence the tracking number.
Night Freight are now saying that the shipping number was allocated to the mattress when it was collected from World Stores. Between the World Stores Depot and the local Night Freight Depot the mattress, a king size mattress, has been LOST!!!!! By this the Night Freight rep. tells me that the label will have come off and now the mattress is sitting in their "unidentified department". How many king size mattresses of this exact type will they have picked up from World Stores on that date - for goodness sake!!!!!
Needless to say the order has now been cancelled.
World Stores please be assured that I will not take kindly to being told that it will take 24 to 48 hours to re-imburse. If you can take the money in seconds then you can return it in the same manner.
