I've been a loyal customer of my local opticians for many years, and despite receiving great service, I can no longer afford the enormous costs of buying glasses from them. £180 to £290 just for the lenses! I needed an alternative.
I had a look on the high street - but on seeing the 2 for 1 plus free lenses offers it was obvious you were paying £200 for £60 frames. Anyway I can never see the point in having 2 pairs, so I thought this time I would try online.
Eyewearbrands came top of the list and had a nice website. They make it very easy to select the right frame and lens options, showing you clearly the pricing throughout the process. They also make you send a photo of your prescription over so you can't mess that up, a good idea.
I received my new glasses this morning. First impressions are good, the lenses are great and I can see very clearly even to the edges of the lens. Time will tell how they hold up to scratches but can't fault them so far.
The only thing I was disappointed with was the 'stock' shown on the website. This doesn't reflect their stock at all. Despite saying my frame was 'in stock', it in fact took 10 days from my order being placed to my frame arriving with them. If you mean in stock with your supplier, fine, but you really ought to say that as the order tracker makes it clear you don't have them. In their defense, they say it takes 7-10 working days to fulfill your order and I received mine in 9.
I don't mind waiting a few extra days to save a huge amount off the high street so I overall I'm very impressed and would recommend the site. I will certainly use them again.
