I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my mum to arrive on 20th March 2013 for her birthday. I was due to go on holiday a few days before so really wanted to surprise her as I wasn't going to be there.
On 20th February I return from work to find a bouquet of flowers in the hallway. First, I assumed they were for me as my birthday was 3 days later. But to my astonishment, they were for my mum. Arrived a whole month early. I double checked my confirmation e-mail to ensure I asked for the correct date...which I did. I called interflora and right away were saying it was an issue with the local florist. I called the florist and the said it was an issue with Interflora. So after calling around and wasting my time, I eventually spoke to someone at Interflora. She apologised for the confusion and asked if the florist could pick up the flowers and return them on the correct day. I thought this was pretty bizarre to be honest seeing as the surprise for my mum was already ruined. So I said no, explaining that the novelty has worn off. She apologised again and was going to hang up when I demanded some sort of compensation. She said, 'well, you have kept the flowers, and we aren't going to collect them from you.' Well, i'm sorry, but i've paid for a service that wasn't up to standard. Eventually I got a refund. Absolutely shoddy service and to be honest I was pretty heartbroken that my mums special day wasn't as special as I wanted it to be.
