I was very impressed by the range of products, amount of supplementary information and advice/links offered and well-designed website to enable you confidently to find exactly what you need. The prices seem fair (including free delivery - always welcome) and the products are sent out quickly and well-packaged and are of a high quality.
However, in spite of all this, one glaring issue spoiled the whole buying experience, thus preventing me from awarding the otherwise-deserved 5 stars, and would automatically deter me from using the company again unless there was no reasonable alternative.
Apart from the range of available products and the usually preferential prices, the single main reason that I shop online so much is for convenience. I order something, forget about it and a few days later it gets pushed through my letterbox or left in my lockable parcel safe.
However, this was not the case with this purchase. To my amazement, I received one of the dreaded red cards from Royal Mail, telling me that I had to collect a parcel from the sorting office as it required a signature. As they only open very limited hours, it was two weeks before I had chance to go and fetch it, which took half an hour of my time and cost me money for petrol.
I know that retailers have to protect themselves from dishonest buyers or delivery people, but not at the expense of disregarding their customers. If I had ordered a large item or something high value and highly desirable such as a laptop or TV, I would have no quibble with this, but it was a £20 length of rubber to seal a particular kind of shower screen, for goodness' sake!! Not that high on most people's wish lists or particularly easy to offload at the pub! Going on the shop name, I presume my order was pretty standard, so it isn't like the majority of their sales would involve valuable, nickable things and my anomalous sundry order happened to fall foul of a sensible standard company policy. Whoever thought this was a good idea?!
To summarise, I would otherwise very highly recommend buying from this retailer but for the huge inconvenience and waste of time and money in actually getting your purchases should you happen not to be in or in the middle of something when the postman comes. A real shame that a great online retailer falls dramatically at the last hurdle.
