Long delivery lead time and still not delivered on the date stated

With a 9 day lead time (which is also excessive), I expect goods to the delivered on the date stated, NOT yet another week later (making it 16 days from date of order!!).
Totally unacceptable when nobody bothers to tell me that the delivery will not be arriving on the due date, so I waste a complete day waiting in for it .
Needless to say, there will be no repeat orders.
