Although I have given them 5 stars, note that I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, so I can't speak for any advice they might give to someone who isn't quite sure what they need - but it's got to be better than John Lewis, who tried to sell us a MacBook instead!
We wanted a powerful but good value laptop that would last my daughter (who plays demanding games) for three years at Uni without becoming too out of date. None of the high street retailers had anything suitable in stock. The choice from the major online sellers such as HP and Dell was limited, and for high-end machines, expensive.
You can't easily put together a laptop yourself, so I tried the services of PCSpecialist on the recommendation of someone who had already used them.
If you want a computer in a hurry, take careful note of the delivery times. They are totally transparent, but you do have to wait a while. If you want a custom built laptop, this isn't a spur of the minute decision, though, and ours arrived in around three weeks, working perfectly. It's anonymous, even a bit boring to look at - which hides the fact that it's worth more than the average laptop. The only problem we have encountered has ironically come down to software issues with installing iTunes, common to i7 Intel computers and Windows 7 (which we could specify as the OS to avoid W8).
From now on, this is how I'm always going to buy my computers, even desktops.
As the title, I can't fault this seller. Having decided they were probably the cheapest in the UK, I phoned to order and the sales person was very helpful. The goods arrived on time and worked perfectly.
