DmC key was invalid

Bought DmC few weeks ago. Redeemed one right on spot, and kept one for a friend.
When my friend tried the key few days ago It turn out that the key is now invalid. Usually a key that have been redeemed will received a msg that "key have been redeemed" and not invalid.

My guess are, those key are stolen keys and steam revoked it, now both key are invalid. Tried to contact support, no reply at all for a week.
