Previously, I have used Post office international payments, which is also through HiFX. I transfer money overseas as I am living and studying abroad. I had to provide 4 documents - 2 id and 2 for proof of address. This involved uploading scanned documents. This was the hardest part for me, actually opening the account. Transferring money is very straightforward. Basically, you select the amount and currency and then enter details such as the international banking number. One is told that one needs to pay via electronic transfer. This is very straightforward and is just a matter of using online banking (UK for me) to transfer the money to HiFX so that they can make the international payment. In fact, I went to payments on Barclays and entered HIFX and the sort code and account number came up automatically. To summarise, this is a great service and costs only £9 for transfers up to £3000. You arrange the payment on the HiFX website, which creates a contract, then you go onto your home online banking website and do an electronic transfer for the appropriate amount.
