I have no doorbell but I left a note on the outside of my door requesting that the driver ring my mobile, I even left the number on the door.
I recieved no call and missed the delivery. When I called on the phone I eventually got to speak to someone who offered to have the driver call back after 6pm, I knew there was no way i would be home by six, I was on hold for so long tha my credit went.
I emailed DPD to ask what could be done 6 days ago and have still not received a reply.
I knew that I would not e at home during th day again for some time so I payed an extra £12 to have my package delivered the next day before 9.30
As far as I am concerned DPD owes me at least £12 not counting the money I had to waste on the phone to them.

Have been using these guys for over a year now as they can't be beat on price and deliver promptly. I also love their points rewards system.
The only problem is that this time the delivery company that they use, DPD, really messed up with my delivery as they didn't call when outside like I had asked - I even left a sign on my front door telling them to call and gave my number as our bell is broken.
When I called them after my "missed" delivery they were very unhelpful and acted as if there was nothing they could do. As I knew I wasn't going to be in the house during the daytime for quite some time I had to pay them £12 to deliver the next day early in the morning. I emailed them trying to raise this issue but they simply did not reply.
Whilst I can't fault UN, I would consider not using them again just to avoid DPD.
