Poor and reckless fitter

The tyre fitter arrived at my place of work on the time specified and managed to change both tyres on the passenger side quite quickly. When it came to the driver side he said that he couldn't open the locking wheel nuts - this puzzled me as the key was the exact same one used on the passenger side. He then handed the key back to me and i inspected it - he had completely mullered the grooves on the inside which wern't allowing the key to sit on the locking nuts. He definitely did this to the key as it was in perfect condition when i handed it over and i always keep my tools and accessories in pristine condition.

I suspect he did this by using a hydraulic torque wrench in an attempt to losen the nut. He then said that he had to go and left me with the 2 tyres and the damaged locking nut key to work out how to fit the remaining tyres myself.

Being quite frustrated considering i had paid for the fitting already and not got the service i bought, i went down to my local Iverson tyres depot, who removed the all four locks (without the use of a hydraulic torque wrench) and fitted the remaining 2 tyres for £30. they were so much more helpful the the fitter from Grippy and a lot more pleasant to deal with.

In the end it cost me an extra £30 fitting and £40 for a new set of locking nuts for my car.

I will definitely not be using these guys again and will not recommend them to anyone.

if you have a nice car and want to maintain it to the standard it deserves dont use these guys.

Hi there,

Firstly we’d like to thank you for your valuable feedback. Although your name has not been provided with this review, our fitter has informed us of this situation. We can assure you that the fitter who came to change your tyres is highly trained and very thorough. After having spoken to him directly we have been informed that the wheel nuts on the drivers side were previously overtightened and this is why he found difficulty in removing them. He has also advised us that he did inform you that if he continued and tried to remove the tyres with the overtightened wheel nuts that it was possible that the locking wheel nut key could get damaged.

We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to yourself and we will be more than happy to refund you the £30 charge for your additional fitting. In order to receive this refund please contact us and a member of our team will be more than happy to help.

Kind Regards,
