I went on my hen weekend last June 2012 organised through Release Travel. My experience of the company up to the actual weekend was positive, they were helpful throughout the booking process and were happy to discuss our plans and make a few changes.
However, the weekend itself turned into a nightmare when we arrived for our cocktail making event, only to be told that this wasn't booked and the company had stopped working with Release Travel weeks ago due to difficulties they had experienced with them. We then checked our restaurant reservation for the evening only to discover the same applied with this too! Trying to get dinner reservations for a large group at such short notice in a place you don't know was not easy to say the least and was not how I expected to spend my evening. There were yet more problems the next morning when we were checking out of the hotel as they hadn't received payment for some of our rooms by Release Travel and expected us to meet the cost.
We have spent the last 9 months emailing and phoning Release Travel trying to get back the extra money we had to spend over the weekend for all the things we had already paid Release Travel for. We finally received a cheque last week to cover our additional expenses but surprise surprise, this has bounced!
So if you have recently been ripped off by Release Travel and are waiting for a refund, don't hold your breath!
