We have rented cars through Autoeurope several times during the past 10 years and have had good experiences. A few days ago we picked up a car at the Naples airport that had a few dings on it, a couple more than were described on the form, but no problem there when we pointed them out to the Europcar person checking it out.
The gas gauge however was not on full, and when my husband mentioned that, the man did make a notation that he said indicated that we could bring it back a bit less than full (couldn't make out his note). We filled it up just outside the airport on the return and the gauge indicated that it was only half full. We told both the person out-side checking it in and the person at the desk. They didn't reply to this. I haven't been charged extra yet and as long as I'm not, I'm satisfied.
