They will take your money when booking with a debit card, but try and pick it up without a credit card as deposit and you've lost your money unless you rebook with them immediately whilst at the desk( this was only because one of the car hire companies within the airport accept a credit card from a friend in the traveling party, a lot of them will not, you have to be the person on the agreement). luckily they rebooked me with europecar which accepted a friends credit card but by which time the discount rate you had is history. they refund what you paid and you pay the standard rate which was more than double the rate shown on the website. This seems to be the way of all car hire companies. This needs to be on the front in capital letters of any car hire home page, it will probably be hidden in the terms and conditions. BEWARE OF THIS TRAP! The same thing happened to two separate people infront of me at bologna airport. Come clean guys and sort this out. this should be totally transparent. I hope this helps someone....
