My friends TV died recently. He is 85 and asked me if I thought it worth repairing.( I was in TV Transmission before I retired 20 years ago) He didn't want to trouble me, so it was agreed I wouldn't spend too much time on it. I suspected the switched mode PSU since not even a glimmer from the power LED, and since no fuses had blown assumed it was nothing more serious.
A google search found a spare at Flat TV Part.s.co.uk. The photo of it convinced me it was the right one, and at under £30 was worth a gamble. It came in three working days, took less than half an hour to change, and bingo, all fixed.
