I received an email from Rowan, the company's founder, saying I won $50 in wine from joining a Cooking Light contest. So here's where they're sneaky:
1. The email title said I won $50 in wine, but the gift card they gave me was only for $40.
2. You can't buy anything for $40 from the website. If you're not an 'Angel', someone who has invested in the company to help winemakers, then you have to pay regular price for a bottle. The cheapest bottle they had when I checked the website about 3 weeks ago and again today is $9.99, and in order to checkout you have to buy at least 6 bottles to complete a case. That's ($9.99 x 6) + (S&H $9.99) = $69.93. This means you have to spend an extra $30 to use your free wine card. Sneaky.
3. I didn't win anything if I have to spend money on it. They said I won a FREE $50 wine card. Won? HA!
