After reading about TransferWise on MoneySavingExpert and needing to pay an £80 deposit for a holiday rental in Spain I decided to give them a go on Sunday 04/08/13. I found the whole process very easy and self explanatory. I liked the check box which ensured that whatever the exchange rate, the landlord of the holiday rental received the correct amount of Euros. My money was transferred immediately and at 08.00 on Monday morning I received confirmation that TransferWise had received my deposit and then a further one stating that they had started the transaction and an expected completion date. It is now Wednesday and I have received an email from the holiday rental people confirming the money is in their bank account, I've also checked my bank account and can see that I've been refunded the little extra that TransferWise took as a precaution against exchange rates changing.
I've used international bank transfers previously and they were a lot more expensive, no quicker and possibly even a little harder to complete. At just £1 to do this transfer I will certainly be using them again (infact I already have) and I will be recommending them to anyone I know that needs to send money abroad.
