Avoid ! Avoid! They are simply Liars ...

I wish I could give less than one star.

Please avoid this company at any cost and save yourself a headache. I am sorry its a lengthy review but wanted to tell everyone how similar they sound to every one in giving reasons for not delivering items.
I do lot of shopping online and usually very careful in choosing where I buy from. I do take calculated risks sometimes. I bought a canon 6d camera recently from another hong kong based company and was delivered within 3 days. Never had trouble untill I choose to buy with simplyelectronics. Although some reviews were bad, I decided to go ahead.

Placed an order for tamron 24-70mm lens on 1st of april. (was around100 pounds cheaper) I wanted to pay via paypal as I did not trust this website fully, but the pay by paypal option disappeared. Now this was the first clue, maybe paypal kicked this company out, not sure. Used credit card instead. money got deducted instantly. They promised to deliver within 7 - 14 days.
Waited patiently for 10 days and kept checking the status on their website everyday.
still kept saying order still processing. So sent an email to find out the status.

Our aim is to ensure that you receive the order within 7-14 business days in line with our delivery time frame. I see that your order has been upgraded to expedited delivery service as well. Once the goods leave our warehouse, delivery can be expected within 2-4 days.

To track the status of your order, simply go to My account located at the top right hand side of our website. You will be prompted to enter your registered email address and password. In the event, you did not register prior to checkout, you may click "forgotten password" and our system will send you a default password within minutes.

Note that the order status will change to "Packed" as soon as it is ready for dispatch. This means our couriers will collect the item the same day or next working day at the very latest. Words such as "trying their best to dispatch as soon as possible " 10 days after placing the order did not sound good. Hence sent another email to give me some definitive date for delivery and the following was the response.

Given the sheer volume of orders coming through it is difficult to estimate a dispatch date. Rather than commit to a date and fall through, we ask for your extended patience during this time as we seek to fulfill your order. We have flagged your order for priority and will do our level best to ship it at the soonest available opportunity.

You can track the order process online via the My account page. Should there be no updates in the next few days, do check back with me and I will see if any new information is available.

So decided to give them some more time. waited for another 6 days, still no signs of it being dispatched. By this time I was getting worried as I had paid excess of 700 pounds for this lens. So decided to call them. On calling on 16th of april, I was told that "anticipate to dispatch the item after a week ". Still no concrete date for delivery and kept using words such as "try our best" "as soon as possible".

I was not happy and enquired about cancelling the order and getting a full refund. and this was the response which is exactly the same wording as other customers have got.

We are sorry to hear that you are cancelling your order with us.

After some investigation, I understand the delay was caused due to backlog on our logistics end initially and due to this please accept our sincere apology.

Rather than commit to a date and fall through, we ask for your extended patience during this time. The order has been flagged for priority already so it will go out as soon as possible. We anticipate dispatch within mid next week. Our customer service team will send you an email once the order has been dispatched. This will be accompanied with the courier details and tracking number.

We like to keep your custom and hence we would like to offer you a free 3-in-1 Cleaning Kit. We appreciate this is just a small gesture given the inconvenience but we hope it goes some way in restoring your confidence in our services.

On the other hand, please confirm that you wish to go ahead with the cancellation and a refund anyway.

At this point I was dreading the quality of the lens if at all I could lay my hands on it and post sales support if the lens is faulty and need to exchange it. Decided to cancel my order and again I was told "will refund as soon as possible" and should take 3-5 days for the refund. I cancelled the order on 17th April.
on 20th April still no change in the status on their website about cancellation. so contacted them again about the status. Guess what they will refund it "as soon as possible"
I was really angry by this time about uncertainties and their timescale, hence sent a email to give me a definite date for the refund or will call the credit card company to recover the amount on 20th April.
7 days later I received the refund. Thank God!

I decided to buy the lens from amazon even though it cost me 100 more, but I have peace of mind .

All communications from simply electronics is simply lies and they just copy and paste the same responses to all the customers.

Avoid this company and save your self a headache.
