Ordered a Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM on Thursday 18th April. I spoke to someone later, who convinced me to upgrade my order as it may not have been with me in time. I need it for Saturday 26th , so that was fine.
I was pleased to receive an email giving me the DHL tracking details for my item on Friday 19th. I watched it track through DHL's system, and it arrived with me, in perfect condition, on Monday 22nd.
Item was a white box item, and had no warranty card, but it came with all the expected accessories, the optics are in good condition and the lens is obviously new as there is no surface scratching etc on it. My husband ordered my camera from them, which is why I felt comfortable placing the order. I would definitely use this company again.
I ordered a Canon 600EX-RT flashgun on 6/4/13. Money was debited from my account immediately and cleared their account on 10/4/13. After 9 days (15/4/13), when the order status was still "in queue for dispatch", I emailed, a little concerned, as I've always received a really prompt service from companies in HK. I got what appears to be a stock response that didn't really relate to my inquiry.
When I followed this up a few days later, I got another stock response. Several more stock responses later (some of which I have seen WORD FOR WORD on review sites), they have offered to add in a cleaning kit to my order, which has been "awaiting dispatch" since Thursday. When I emailed today, they told me that they have a lot of orders going out, but surely if you have packed the order already and it's awaiting dispatch, then you just get the courier to pick the items up surely?!
I honestly don't think Simply Electronics have any intention of shipping my order. I'm dubious as to whether they even have the flashgun in stock! I also don't think they have any intention of giving me a refund when I cancel the order Thursday (provided they haven't actually dispatched the item).
Basically, avoid at all costs.
UPDATE: I received an email today (26/4/13) which I have copied and pasted below.
"Our sincere apologies for the delay in shipping your goods.
After some investigation, I understand the delay was caused due to backlog on our logistics end initially. Your order had been scheduled for dispatch earlier however during a routine quality check it was found that the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT Flash might be damaged. The decision was therefore made to halt delivery and return the entire shipment back to our suppliers for new replacements. I see that one of our customer service staff was suppose to contact you today regarding this.
Rather than commit to a date and fall through, we ask for your extended patience during this time as we seek to fulfill your order through alternative suppliers in the coming days ahead. The order has been flagged for priority already so it will go out as soon as stocks arrive.
Further to this you may also check your order status online through the My account page. We keep this updated at all times. So, as soon as your order status changes to “Packed” you can be assured it will be dispatched the same day or latest on the next working day.
If you prefer, we can refund the order to the original card which was used to pay this order. We are however hoping that you continue with the order."
Sound familiar? Do you feel like you've read this before? Check Chris Hall's review a few posts down. Word for word. This company are a scam. Yes, they do send out *some* orders, but I've wager that's the minority and the rest of us get screwed.
I've asked for a refund. I wonder how long I have to fight for it.
