Using Royal Mail is a mistake by this company!

If no one in, back to depot; then a whole bunch of hassle to get your parcel!

Hi Alan,

This is most unfortunate and we must apologise for the inconvenience that Royal Mail have caused, however we do feel that there must be more to this than meets the eye. The real advantage of using Royal Mail’s tracked service is, that if there is nobody in at your chosen delivery address, they WILL NOT return it to the main distribution centre, they will leave it at your nearest Post Office. This is their standard practice and one of the factors for using the service. This is the first time we have encountered a parcel being returned to the main DC, perhaps there was an unforeseen problem with leaving it at the Green Street Post Office.

I think your problems would have been exacerbated even if you’d upgraded to the next day service with Interlink, as they would have to get a signature and after 3 failed deliveries the parcel would be left at their DC, which in your case would be a 26 mile round trip.

As mentioned Alan, this is highly unusual and we will of course endeavour to find out why on this occasion Royal Mail has not followed its own protocol.
