I have had the worst experience with this company. I'd never suggest them to anyone I know, and I'm warning other people to be cautious. I ordered what I thought would be a gorgeous wedding dress on February 2nd. I thought I was being cautious by ordering with paypal - I thought even if it took the 20 days that the website says to make the dress, surely it wouldn't take much longer than that to get here. After all, shipping was $51 - even from overseas, that's expensive. I assumed that part of the cost was to expidite the dresses.
I was not pleased when I got the dresses. The fabric was cheap-feeling and the dresses were quite a bit longer than I was comfortable with. The sleeves were too tight at the top, and weirdly loose at the bottom. The neckline, which was gorgeous on the model in the picture, pinched my skin and made me look like I had weirdly overdeveloped neck muscles - sort of like a bridal She-Hulk.
So, I thought that ordering with Paypal would give me a little security because I could always open a complaint with them. However. The dresses did not arrive until April 1st, well after the 45 day window to open said complaint.
There's a certain kind of calculating, evil genius in that. I don't believe that the timing is a coincidence. My first thought was that Outerinner.com had complaints opened in the past and figured out a way to get around it.
But then I thought maybe I was jumping to conclusions and I should give customer service the chance to fix their mistake.
When I did, the customer service rep asked for really invasive things - first, to take pictures of myself in the dress, and then for my measurements. When I explained that how weird that request was and that one of the dresses was for someone else who wasn't super happy with the way her dress fit, they suggested the following things:
- To alter the dress. (After having waited for two months for the dresses to arrive in the first place, I doubted that the alterations would be done in time for my wedding. Additionally, shipping the dresses back and forth again would cost over $100.)
- To have the dress altered here. (Which would likely be more costly than the dress.)
- To order a new (custom) dress from outerinner.com at 20%. (No thank you. I've had the WORST customer experience of my life so far.)
- To sell the dress to a friend at cost. (What? Really? This assumes that I have a friend who is my size getting married soon. And that I am totally fine with selling my friend a dress that I found to be poorly made. Clearly, outerinner assumes that I don't want to build lasting friendships with other brides.)
Please space yourself the horrible experience of ordering from this shady company. My partner and I are both students, so I thought I was going to save money by ordering a dress from Outerinner.com - but instead, I am out the cost of two dresses and shipping on top of the dress I will actually be walking down the aisle in. Don't order from this company.
