I had my first eye test at Specsavers Surrey Quays yesterday - I was prescribed some low strength glasses and was happy with the test and optician I saw; unfortunately the other staff there were quite pressurising to buy glasses there and then - when I said I would like to think about it first I was brushed aside very abruptly. I thought about things over night and decided to go back today to purchase a cheap pair of glasses to wear while I got used to them and found out how much I would need to wear them etc so I could go back after I've been paid to get some designer ones if I needed to wear them frequently. The woman I saw said my glasses wouldn't be ready until the following Sunday unless I wanted the anti-glare coating, in which case they would be ready today - I asked if another store may be able to do things quicker for me and she told me it will be the same at any store I go to..!! Over a week for simple prescription glasses - unless I pay an extra £30 (more than the glasses cost in the first place!) is not good enough. I refused out of principle, although I really liked the specs - really disappointing...
