I wonder what checks Wowcher undertake with their merchants to ensure that they are bonfida companies.
In September, using a Wowcher, we bought a 7" tablet from <external link removed>. After many emails and calls to <external link removed>,. the item arrived nine weeks later.
On receipt it was wrapped up and hidden way until Christmas.
On Christmas Day the item didn't appear to work properly - kept on freezing, couldn't hold a battery charge, wouldn't recognise internet connection. However, we persevered, but to no avail - the tablet no longer works and continually freezes.
In these circumstances The Sale of Goods Act is clear, the item is not fit for the purpose - return to seller for a refund. Oh that we could. It seems that <external link removed> no longer has a web presence / phone number / customer service / returns address.
Sadly, from our experience and those of many others who have posted on the www, it seems that <external link removed> was a scam. They appear to have been knowingly selling faulty , Chinese made tablets and promoting the fraud by using Wowcher to validate their products by promoting a discount voucher. .
Wowcher's involvement in <external link removed>' fraud is unclear . The promotion of <external link removed> by Wowcher implies that they endorsed the product / company . After all they wouldn't have 'vouchers' for scam companies would they ?
It seems that any check that Wowcher undertake with those whose services and products they are promoting is not sufficiently vigorous enough.
Hopefully Wowcher will be able to resolve this and instigate procedures which will prevent other companies from using the to scam people.
In the mean time we would be grateful to know what action we can take in returning the tablet and receiving a refund.
Although other phone buyers quoted slightly more for my phone I wasn't entirely happy with the reviews that some of these companies were receiving. So I decided to sell to mazumamobile.
This turned out ot be an excellent decison. The whole transaction was simple and I received my cheque the day after they received the phone.
I would recommend this company to anyone wishing to sell their phone.
