I ordered a shoe cabinet that was reduced to half price and was adviced the item would be delivered on a Thursday so I took the day off work. No delivery time was given accept from 7am to 9pm on website and 7am to 8pm on email. So I waited and waited and waited and waited some more and after yet more waiting it was 9pm at night at which time Argos cusstomer call centre was closed. So I emailed and rang the very next day to be told that there had been a mistake and that my order had been delivered to the wrong depot for collection. I had not received a phone call to advise me of this or any apology. I received and email from Argos customer care to apologise saying my order would be delivered on the Saturday between guess what 7am and 6pm it finally arrived at 2pm. With rather rude unfeeling customer care Argos offered me an £8 gift card which low and behold I would have to spend with Argos. Honestly if you value your time and energies avoid this company unless you can collect from their shops.
I ordered 4 items of the Knightsbridge bedroom range. You were told on the website that you could choose your delivery day however that never happened and the items were delivered when I was not there to sign for them. I rang the delivery company and took a day off to accept re-delivery, but that didn't materials. When the items did arrive there was severe damage to the boarding to the back of the 3 drawer chest. I rang customer service and was asked to take a picture and email it to them, this I did and I received a reply to apologise and a replacement part would be with me in 3- 5 working days. A replacement part? I emailed back to clarify if they meant a replacement unit as having paid a lot of money for ready built items I would not expect to have to repair a damaged item myself. I received a reply to state they appreciate my frustration but as only the back of the unit was damaged a replacement part has been ordered. I really am shocked by this and I am investigating further with regards to my statutory rights as the item delivered was not as described and should be replaced and I certainly should not be expected to repair it. Unless I receive a satisfactory response from this company I would would think very long and hard before ordering from this company and advise anybody to do the same.
Having phoned the customer services department again I have mananged to resolve the issue. I also received a personal telephone call from the company's customer care representative on this website with a sincere apology which was a pleasant surprise and has gone some way to restoring my faith in the company.
I spoke to soon. Although the customer care lady appears to be very helpful she is not able control the quality of the item. The replacement 3 drawer chest has turned up today in worse condition than the 1st as the whole of the inside of the top drawer is damaged and does not stay on the runners and there are two very clear visible marks to the top two drawers. Almost wishing I got the replacement part now as least I would have a useable chest of drawers.
3/7/13 update. The 3rd set of drawers were returned and I have been refunded. I must say that when the customer services reperesentative got involved in the case she did her very best, I do not necessarily think that world stores are to blame but either their supplier or carrier but this should be investigated so that what happened to me does not happen to other customers. Due to high level of customer care I received I would consider using world stores again but not for this product.
