Just Eat

Unacceptable Service from Just Eat and New Chop Chop Restaurant in Manchester

Tried to order from Just Eat today in Manchester, a guy called Shaun from Just-Eat.co.uk called 15minutes or so later to say that the restaurant (New Chop Chop in Manchester) had cancelled/rejected the order because they are "too busy".

Considering that Just Eat takes a "authorisation" of funds from the debit card at time of order (meaning if something goes wrong you have to wait a couple of days before you can use those funds again), It seems crazy to me that Just Eat doesn't have a policy where a restaurant like New Chop Chop would be "online" and not temporarily go offline so that if they are busy to prevent any inconvenience to the end consumer (customer). I've read some horror stories and complaints about just eat where people who have children have ordered and put trust in just eat only to find they cant now use those funds to order from somewhere else (because they have been temporarily frozen).

Just Eat blames this temporarily freeze on the bank, but in reality its actually a just eat problem, they shouldn't charge the card until the restaurant actually accepts the order.

It was after some debating that just-eat.co.uk suggested that they send us a voucher for the value.

I used to love Just eat in Ireland, but it seems that Just Eat UK doesn't have the same high standards as there sister company in Ireland.

Im not sure I would recommend Just-Eat.co.uk to anyone in future.

Hey Scott

I'm really sorry to hear that your order was rejected by the restaurant.

Unfortunately as the takeaway business is so fast moving, it's necessary that we provide the restaurants with the facility to reject orders in cases where they just aren't going to be able to complete due to being too busy, if you are too far away etc. We do have a process in place that if a restaurant rejects orders we contact them to find out why this was and if necessary (for example if they have no delivery driver) then we will put them offline until they can continue to accept orders from us.

However, I do understand your frustration with the payment issue and if an order is rejected by the restaurant but a payment goes through, a voucher should be offered to you, which you have said did happen. This being said, you have mentioned this wasn't as quickly as you or we would have hoped, so I'd like to have a look into this for you and see if there is anything we can do - please could you email your order number and order details to me at trustpilot@just-eat.co.uk?

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, your feedback is valued to help us improve our services :)

Kind regards

AppliancesOnline.co.uk an amazing company - Review by Scott Dylan

We have been looking around at various companies for a new fridge freezer but struggled. We found Appliances Online who had a vast selection. Once we had selected our choice we found the order process easy. As we had a different billing address we thought we would have to go through extra verification. We called Appliances Online and the member of staff that took the call was extremely friendly and made the extra verification process a seamless process.

The order was for next day delivery which was fantastic for us.

We will always order from Appliances Online in future and would recommend anyone who needs a kitchen appliance to go and order via AppliancesOnline.co.uk
