Have had this experience on many different websites, mostly smaller websites that try to compete against sites like [external links removed]. In order to compete, sites such as Fat Birds advertise products at low prices that aren't in stock but show that they have. Once they have your order and money, they then email you, sometimes not, saying that the item is out of stock and will delay your order.
That being said, the customer service at Fat Birds was far better then other smaller websites. I was told exactly what had happened and what was going to happen or I could have a refund which was completed instantly.
This still doesn't make up for the fact I had to reorder my item elsewhere and as such, have had a massive delay to a bike build I was doing for a present.
