Waited in all day for delivery yesterday, only to receive an email at 11am saying they had attempted delivery and left a card. Nobody called and no card had actually been left.
It then took half an hour to track down a phone number that would put me in touch with a human instead of an automated system (they don't include their call centre's number on their emails as clearly they don't want to have to listen to customer complaints, and it's hidden on their website) .
The call centre operative claimed that the driver must have gone to the wrong address. He promised to contact the depot (apparently he "wasn't allowed" to contact the driver directly!) and would call me back. Broken promise number one!
At 16.30 I called again, and spoke to the first person who was actually willing to apologise for what had happened. She promised me that the driver was going to redeliver before 19.30.
I waited in for the rest of the evening, forced to cancel plans to go out for a meal with visiting relatives. 19.30 came and past with no sign of the parcel, and no attempt by DPD to contact me.
This morning I tried to call customer services, only to receive an automated message telling me that they were closed, and that their opening hours on Saturdays were 8am to 1pm. This was at 11.50!!!
Now anyone can make a mistake, but DPD just seem to compound their mistakes with lies and incompetence.
The worst delivery company I have ever delt with, in a rather dismal field! Avoid at all costs.
