I was waiting for a parcel from Amazon and tracking it on line. Everything was going fine until it arrived at their Edinburgh Depot . That is Livingston, Edinburgh, which is 15 miles from my house! I normally don't mind collecting from a depot as a number of couriers have depots within a mile of my house so I'm a bit spoilt.
CityLink told me online they intended redelivery the following day but as the chances were they would not be able to deliver a second time, I decided my safest bet was to head straight to the depot after work.
On stopping by the house to collect the card they had left, along with my passport for ID, I discovered, to my surprise, 2 cards. One was saying that nobody was available to sign for the parcel, shortly after 10am. The second one was to tell me it had been left with a neighbour after 2.30pm! Yes , the driver had dropped by on his way back to the depot, just in case someone was home!
Nice to know that some drivers don't mind going the extra mile! Thank you!
I thought it would be more convenient to have goods delivered to my place of work but Yodel's driver scuppered my plans. All he was required to do was deliver the parcel to the address on the package. The property has 2 doors, the one immediately below the company name was locked but had a notice directing callers to the main entrance 30ft away. The net result was that the driver assumed that the company had moved and logged the parcel to be returned to sender.
I spotted the situation while tracking the parcel on line and called Yodel to be told that it would be redelivered. This was most likely before the van had even brought the parcel back to the depot.
By the following morning, the situation had changed and even though my second call was well before the parcel was booked out to the sender, I was told that it was being returned to the sender..
A third call was made and the girl tried to contact the depot by e-mail to stop the parcel going anywhere but was later advised by a call from Yodel that this had been unsuccessful
Perhaps being able to contact local depot myself by phone or even Yodel's call centre doing so initially, this situation could have been sorted out without any fuss. Too difficult to work out?
