We took our Grandsons to London for the first time in their lives last Sunday 14th July, at a cost of £66. On arrival outside the Tower of London at 9.45am we asked one of your bus ticket sellers where we get on the bus , only to be ordered, without explanation, onto the boat tour! When we alighted at Westminster millennium pier the roads were cordoned off for "runners" there were no representatives of the big bus company to direct us to a bus , and we had to walk the children ½ mile to Victoria station as we could not cross the road (as roads were closed) to pick up the route. AT Victoria we saw a big bus but were prohibited from getting on and told to wait outside the Grosvenor hotel. The staff at this stop were unable to give us any useful information when the bus might arrive.
We waited about 20 mins before we boarded a bus and took the Blue tour when it arrived at hyde park for the second time we alighted for lunch. 12.00
After lunch we walked to the stop to be told to “wait there” ,by a big bus ticket seller , he pointed at the ground ,the bus would be 15 mins, the big bus guide was in conversation with other guides or on his phone all this time. After 15mins he was replaced by another gentleman who informed me the bus would be 10 mins I told him that it was already overdue to which he replied “I'm waiting too” not very helpful.
We gave it another 15 mins then decided to walk to length of oxford st with the children to try to pick up the route further round. We walked to oxford circus stop on regent st, no staff at all. Having waited for 15mins
we gave up and caught the tube back the tower hill to get the car and go home,
The temp was about 26 deg C all through this.
At tower hill we stopped for an ice cream and spoke to one of your staff. the first of the day who was NOT rude who reported all was now running OK so at 17.00pm we finally got on a bus and completed a tour
the company must have had prior notification so why if they knew there was going to be such chaos in London that day, did they continue to sell tickets, which we saw them do to many people. Without informing anyone that probably they would have no chance of completing a tour.
We feel we should have been informed at the time of purchase. Surely they are selling tickets for a service they know you can’t provide.
Had we known at the time of purchase, we would have delayed our trip until a better day. as it is we have wasted £66. which we would like refunded .
