Misleading!

Have used Travel Nation several times and always had a excellent experience. On this occasion though I feel as if we was mislead having spoken to three different consultants to organise our trip. The first consultant arranged our preliminary itinerary that was satisfactory and in the email footer it was advised that itinerary changes are free of charge unless the airline charges an admin fee. This has been the case on all my previous round the world trips and has come in very useful. However after making a couple of amendments with the 2nd and then 3rd advisor we booked two separate trips only to be sent a follow up email notifying us of charges of £200 and £75 fees if we change any of our dates. It would have been nice to have been informed of this beforehand especially when the same itinerary was £30 cheaper on Expedia and the whole point of booking with Travel Nation was to be able to be flexible on some of the dates. May as well not have bothered! Thanks now!

I’m pleased to hear you’ve found our free date change service useful in the past, and are aware we only pass on any airline admin fees. Such fees are dependent on the type of ticket purchased, these conditions are clearly defined in the booking confirmation sent to all our customers.

Many of our multi-stop and round the world tickets are completely free of charge to amend dates after departure, I’m pleased to see you’ve benefitted from this in the past. Other discounted tickets have more restrictions (ie an airline penalty for date changes), this is especially true of simpler ‘point to point’ or return flights to a single destination or with perhaps one stopover, which is what has been booked in your case.

Our consultants simply quote the airline fees for changes, these are the same fees as advised in your booking confirmation when the original booking is made.

The same airline fees would apply whichever agency is used to book the ticket (if not more – as we charge no admin fees to process such changes). Customers also have the option to process such changes direct with the airline for the same fees, but please be aware local airline offices have a tendency to charge their own admin fee on top. This is why we believe our free date change service is so important, we make it easy for customers to get in touch by phone/email and it means you can be confident of not paying hidden additional fees.
