Essential Nails

Good but not great

These courses are great if you don't have time to go to college as you can do everything in your own time. The nail trainer is good and you do get a lot of equipment in the box. However, the dvd is very outdated (prepare yourself for big hair) and they only teach you the very basics. By that I mean, a simple pink overlay. In the acrylic course, they only teach you natural tips, there is nothing about French tips. I appreciate that you can't learn everything but if they included the information in the book then you could choose whether to study it or not. The re-usuable forms as useless and you can only sculpt a square nail and then file it down. There is nothing about glitter tips, mixing your own powders or stiletto nails. The book doesn't even cover all the different nail shapes just square, sqoval or oval. It is a good starting point but I wouldn't dare call myself an 'acrylic nail technician'. I've had to watch alot of you tube videos to get the information I need. It seems all the extra information is covered in other courses that you have to pay more for.

I did order the maintenance course (which I paid extra for) and that is very good in terms of content and information. However, you have to complete 20 maintenance nails and you only get 20 nails in the box. There is no room for error or extra practice! On my first nail I accidentally caught the cuticle but I'm going to have to send it in as I have no others. You can order them but it costs £9.99 + p&p for another 20.

The staff are great though and very helpful - I can't fault that!

Hi Melissa,

Thank you for taking time to write a review of the courses you purchased. We are really pleased that you chose to enrol and train with Essential Nails. We value feedback from our students and take it seriously, as it helps us make improvements in the training and service we provide.

We review our current course's and courses development on a regularly basis. We have big plans for the future, with new courses, tutorials and update's to cover extra skills and nail techniques coming soon. We will make sure we let you know when these are available.

In the meantime, in the Acrylic tip & overlay course we teach the classic tip and overlay application. This is the fundamental foundation of professional Acrylic Nail Tech skills. We ask our students to do more practice work than all other training providers, and believe that only once these techniques are perfected and the new graduate is confident working with them, it is then the perfect time to try variations of the application. At the moment we have some great instructional help sheets to guide you through French and glitter tips etc. and Sarah Gooderham, our student support coach is on hand to advise and encourage learning more techniques. Just call or email support@essentialnails.com and Sarah will be happy to send you the instructional sheets and help.
The maintaining nails course is invaluable; the training, tips and techniques shared in the course to look after your clients on a regular basis, will serve you well. It is a short course, only 20 nails to be completed. If a student has a problem completing the course; we really want to know about it, so it was great that you emailed us regarding your problem with the nails, thank you. Once we know a student has a challenge, we are very happy to help and solve the problem for them. We hope you are pleased with the solution we provided.

We hope you will continue to enjoy your courses and please do contact Sarah, myself or one of the EN team at any time on 01440 820 999 or by email to support@essentialnails.com if you need help.
