I cannot describe how terrible DPD were to deal with and how I, as a customer, was treated. My parcel left the sender (confirmed) on 22nd August with a paid next day delivery. The goods that were sent were of considerable value and as such i waited in on the 23rd in order to receive them. As the time was approaching 5pm I rang to see where there parcel was. I got put on hold for 15mins only then to be told there were no more drivers available and the only option would be for me to go and fetch it from the depot. No apology. I drove the 7 miles to the hub where I was told that they didn't actually know where the parcel was and I shouldn't have been told to come to the depot. As the parcel had been scanned and confirmed as arriving at the hub i asked when it would be available. I was then told that it would be put on a pre 12 for the next day and that was the only option. I was told to expect a phone call before 8pm to confirm. No phone call, no confirmation. The next day (24th) I took 5 phone numbers and 3 hours of waiting before i got to speak to someone. The parcel was lost in the system and had maybe come off the conveyor. I was then told that the parcel had been found and was at a different hub but there was no way of me getting it because of the bank holiday. No apology.
I finally got the delivery on Tuesday 27th. The parcel was in a despicable condition. fortunately the expensive content was not damaged. The box was crushed at the top like someone had say on it or stood on it. It was dirty and torn. The driver was asked if he knew how it had go in this state and the response of "sign here..I dunno I'm just the driver." No apology.
A ridiculous experience for something that should have been very simple. Not once was i contacted when they lost my package and I was left to chase them all over the place to track it down.
If I could give this less than 1 star I would. The irony in the sign on the wall at the collection point "It starts and ends with the customer" would be lost I think.
