I purchased a Dancook barbecue and wanted to buy accessories for it. Bravouk are the UK agents for Dancook, and when I contacted them, they gave me a retail website to purchase the items from. However, that retailer did not have them in stock and so I went back to Bravouk and asked for another contact. I didn't really expect to hear from them again - it seems a surprise to get a response from a wholesaler once, never mind twice - but they gave me another website and offered more help if that didn't provide what I wanted. As it happened, it did - so well done Bravouk!
The item I ordered from Dragon Supplies arrived with the plastic bubble already cut open. I rang them, they apologised, and refunded the cost of the item on return, together with the cost of return postage. No hassle, no silly excuses, no arguments. I'd feel happy buying from them again - though I would have preferred the goods to be in best condition in the first place!
The light arrived days after I ordered it and the company emailed me about progress on the order. I hang the light round my neck with my whistle, putting it on when I leave for the backwoods and leaving it on day and night until I return. I've always got a light, whatever the circumstances, and a visual emergency signal to complement the audial one provided by the whistle. It is simply so well-designed and well-specified. If it hasn't won awards, then it should!
I ordered a Fallkniven folding pocket knife at 23.30 on 28 March and it arrived at 10.00 on 30 March - effectively, next day delivery. They don't always stock the items that I want to buy, but if they have the things you want, you'll get them very quickly indeed! Very highly recommended.
My research into indigenous knowledge takes me to some wild places and for the last five years I've been buying my equipment from Ray Mears's Bushcraft company. The site tells you if an item is in stock and if it is, it arrives two or three days later - always. I also buy training from Bushcraft - Wilderness First Aid, Navigation, Tracking - and the quality is excellent. Finally, if I'm thinking of buying a new piece of kit, I always look to see what Bushcraft has chosen as their preferred option, because I have a real sense that they have tried things out in real life. Every now and then other companies manage to undercut their prices on the same items by a pound or two and on occasion I have to go elsewhere to get women's sizes in clothing - but I continue to go to Bushcraft first, and recommend them unreservedly.
I ordered a small compass from Trueways, only a cheap little thing for £6.99, which hadn't arrived a month later. Trueways weren't replying to my emails, so I wrote a negative review of the experience on this site and copied it to them. Almost immediately, they replied saying the goods had been returned to them since my address was recorded as 'Road' rather than 'Hill'. Clearly, they hadn't bothered to contact me when the goods had been returned to them, nor had they checked the postcode against the address or the despatch address against my Visa address. I asked them to resend the goods.
Another month later, and no response and no goods from Trueways. I guess the level of business just isn't worth their effort - under a tenner, and why bother with customer service for that price? And maybe in some ways just better to be outright defrauded than to be subjected to the endless list of half-baked excuses provided by other internet cheaters on this site? I guess I'll go all the way with them and ask for a refund - and I'll report again in a month's time.
