I bought a Hewlett Packard Pavilion g6 laptop from Currys/PC World in Oct 2012. It has been returned to the store 5 times for the same fault. Twice they managed to "fix it" in store. 3 times it has been sent off for repair. They tell me, in the store, that their policy is not to replace faulty goods until they have been returned to their central repair depot 4 times. What is the betting that my laptop goes wrong in November when the guarantee runs out. I consider that the laptop is not fit for purpose.
Their response appears to be "hard luck".
