I was buying a fridge and freezer (two separate items) from Comet online when I found they couldn't deliver next day as I hoped, but could only deliver 4 days later.
I checked the same product codes on the Tesco Extra website and found the identical products 17% cheaper - £319 versus £385 so I saved £66! And Tesco offered delivery next business day as well.
So do check out Tesco Extra for electrical - they seem to be offering very good prices and fast delivery.
Dunhill is a great, iconic British brand.
Promising the best in classic, British gentlemen's attire the flagship store "Alfred Dunhill House" off Berkeley Square in London should be an oasis of classic great service and flawlessly executed.
Unfortunately it's not. I was lucky enough to receive a voucher, beautifully presented in a box with as shirt cuff, for a custom made short at Alfred Dunhill House. Unfortunately the beautifully fitted out house, in a listed building, is the best part of te service and the staff are sadly lacking.
My shirt took 3 months longer than planned to produce. The order was lost several times and today, when I went to collect, I found the staff wet, listless and muddled.
There is a cafe in a small courtyard at Alfred Dunhill House where you can smoke a cigar from their in-house merchant and enjoy a coffee. It's nicely designed but the waiter service was listless. A hot, smartly dressed barista with knowledge of good service was required, instead we had a guy who frankly seemed like he would rather be anywhere else. During my visit I entered the main store from the courtyard three times, but each time it seemed to take the doorman by surprise and he didn't manage to do his basic job of actually opening the door.
Inside staff looked mildly bewildered that there were customers inside and as I stepped over items of rubbish on the floor and tried to avoid tripping over the heavily ruffled seagrass rug in the second room I realised I wasn't enjoying the retail experience.
A stripy shirt caught my eye - not cheap at just under £200, but it appeared to have been recently pulled from a bag from China and was crumpled and in desperate need of an iron - who could have hung it on a hanger? Surely not someone engaged with and proud of the Dunhill brand.
Overall, it's a beautiful building with a good range of attire and is dreadfully executed by staff. If I was the GM I would fire at least 50% if not 75% of the staff and start again. Heaven only knows why Dunhill think it's good enough - guys, it just frankly is not.
Great product ideas and a lot of fun but the product quality needs some work. I bought one of the dog bed Fatboys.
The inner cushion is made of such thin fabric / paper that when I tried to put it in the cover, my finger went straight through and ended up with polystyrene balls everywhere.
I actually have an older Fat Boy dog basket that I was replacing so I thought I'd just wash the cover on that one instead. When I came to take the cover off the old one, I found that when my partner had assembled that he had also put his finger through the lining as well - it had a hole in it that he'd taped up.
So I think Fat Boy is a great idea but with a defective quality inner bag - they really need to make it more robust. It takes quite a bit of handling to fit the inner into the cover and the thickness of the inner lining just isn't up to scratch.
Do buy one if you like the idea, but be very careful putting it together.
I've used CT several times - always good and their customer service is excellent. On many of their shirts they let you choose the sleeve length - be careful with this as I do have a couple of shirts with comedy long sleeves that aren't really wearable! My fault though for guessing.
They have a really good no quibble refund policy which I have used before and it works. But most of the shirts I've had from them have lasted ages.
Great white shirt bar. Consistent, classic, no fuss and well made. Plain white poplin short irons well.
You can either buy them online, in which case they come in a few days, or at department stores like Selfridges and they make me very happy, Wouldn't buy any other white shirt.
I'm fussy with hotels so when booked in to the Shangri-La, Sydney Australia for 4 weeks on business I expected to have got fed up with them by the end of the second week and would need to move.
Actually they were pretty lovely. The hotel good, if you were being critical, take a refurb. It's not of quite the same decor class as the recently refurbished Four Seasons around the corner. But that is reflected in the price and my room at the Shangri-La was the cheapest of the major hotels in central Sydney.
The service though was great. I always think that Asian chains do a better job of customer service than American and they really did show that here. Everyone from reception to concierge to room service to spa and restaurant were really, naturally friendly and welcoming - whatever the time of day.
I ended up really enjoying my stay at the Shangri-La Syndey and I've already booked another 13 day stay there for my next business trip. I would recommend it.
This may be my shortest review.
Over the last 4 years of VM suffering I have almost lost the will to live. They are absolutely dreadful and the lying and untruths spoken by customer service must be systemic and trained in. One of the most infuriating must be their regular habit of booking you a 1pm - 6pm appointment, where you stay off work, then at 5.50pm you call the office to ask "Where is the engineer", only to be told "He's round the corner - seeing you next". Then at 6.30 when he hasn't been you call back and of course "that department is closed". There is no way to win with VM, they are experts at the most horrific customer service known to man.

I've used House of Fraser's online service three times now.
Twice was for kitchen appliances and their delivery is quick and as promised.
Once I bought a suit - always dangerous in terms of sizing but I was buying from a brand that I'd used before and thought if I picked the same size but in a different style it would fit. Well it didn't fit at all - but HoF's returns process was easy and quick. They give you a return address label with every order so you just stick it back on the packaging that you received the item in and then you can return it and they pay the postage.
Refund was back on my credit card in a few days so very happy with that. I'd recommend them certainly for household appliances and homewares - for clothing and fashion, better than average returns process makes that easy as well
I've been using Hotels.com for a good couple of years now and have made over a dozen bookings with them. Service is really good - and although you pay at the time of booking for almost all hotels, you can cancel up to a day before and get a full refund.
They also have a really good rewards programme called Welcome Rewards where you get a free night for every 10 that you book through the site. I've used that a few times already and it does exactly what it says on the tin

Ordered flowers and chocolates at 10.30pm on Wednesday night for delivery the next day and they were at their destination by 11am.
Great service, easy website and liked the fact that I could add chocolates easily to make it extra special
