Great Product but Delivery Instructions are confusing

We purchased an Oak Corner Bathroom Cabinet which we are very pleased with overall, except the bottom shelf at the back is damaged but we decided it was too much of a headache to send back.

The delivery instructions clearly stated:

For TWO PERSON Delivered goods ( Oak Bathroom Cabinets ) you will receive a telephone call from our delivery partner within two working days to arrange a suitable delivery day. If you haven't received a telephone call during this period, please call us on 01772 671354 and we can investigate and confirm delivery date. There is no tracking information for this method of delivery.

There was no telephone call and it was just lucky that i happened to be at home when the delivery driver turned up.

It also stated in the instructions that:

Please inspect goods on arrival, look for obvious damages and report to driver. If the goods are not in a satisfactory condition mark the paperwork as “damaged”. (This is essential as if this is not done it could affect your chances of a replacement since the delivery company will not entertain our claims for compensation if the delivery notes are not marked as "damaged" ).

I said to the driver that i was supposed to open it and check for damage and he said, 'no, once you open it I can't take it back anyway' , so I didn't but realised I should've done.

As I didn't get t telephone call i assumed it wasn't a two person delivery and to be honest wasn't sure what i was supposed to do. It wasn't until we unpacked the cabinet that evening that we found the damage. In the corner, at the base of the unit, the wood it clearly broken.

Other than that, we do actually love the quality of the product and how it looks.
