Before booking the Gran via 678 hotel in Barcelona I called Alpharooms to ask advice on the types of rooms available as there were several different prices shown on the site. I asked the member of staff what the difference was and was informed that the rooms were all the same, just from different providers. It was only after I had made my reservation and looked at other sites, that I realised there were three different types of room, basic, comfort and superior. I emailed the hotel direct to enquire as to which rooms had been reserved for us and was informed that we had been allocated basic rooms, which I was informed are narrow rooms. We decided to upgrade to comfort rooms, which resulted in an extra payment of 15 Euros per night per room for our three night stay. It would have been more helpful had the member of staff been more knowledgeable about the hotel.
I should also like to mention that when using the Alpharooms website to view hotels, I find it very irritating when viewing a hotel and then wanting to return to your search criteria, you are directed back to the beginning of the search, not to where you were viewing, which takes some considerable time. Also, the map facility does not appear to work?
I have used Alpharooms in the past without problems and I am sure I will do so in future. If the above minor problems could be resolved, I am sure the experience would be much improved.
