I ordered a Nexus 10 from Xpansys on 14th November. I actually cancelled an order I'd placed directly with Google to get the device from Xpansys because of the better price. Fair play to them it was delivered very quickly, but unfortunately the device was dead on arrival. On top of this I soon saw why there was a price difference - it was a non-UK device with a two prong plug in the box. They do supply an adapter, however I'm not sure how I stand on the warranty/maintenance front. I rang them and got a returns number and a returns form to go in the box, but I had to stump up the cost of the return - £12 with insurance. I also made sure it was signed for as well - just as well. The delivery to them was made on 19th Nov, but I heard nothing from them, so I rang to find out what was going on. As it turned out nothing at all. Once prompted to action they fired an email back saying that they weren't processing the return because I hadn't included the usb cable and adapter with the return - even though the adapter wasn't supplied by Google and nowhere on their website does it say that the item needs to be returned in a saleable condition when the return is a faulty item. I've asked them to just take the usb cable out of the box of the replacement if it's so important, but I have a sneaky feeling I'm going to have to pay yet again to return it. I'm still waiting for the replacement to be sorted almost 3 weeks after the original order, and it's costing a fortune in postage. I ordered from them in good faith - I needed the tablet quite urgently for a job I'm doing for a client - I'll not make the same mistake again.
Steven James Guitar and Amp was recommended to me by a friend. I'd be perfectly happy recommending them to anyone on the same basis. As a shop their prices are fine, but it's their customer service which stands out. You won't be rushed into any sales, and lets face it, some of our purchases can be big so you most certainly DON'T want to be rushed! I recently acquired a new PRS Mira S2 to replace my 10 year old Strat. Steven James helped immensely - initially I was looking at the latest Studio Les Pauls for their workmanlike build and sensible prices (given the number of gigs I do, paying £2-4k for a decent Les Paul can't be justified). After spending an hour or two in the shop talking, playing, listening, it became obvious that the Gibbo's just don't cut the mustard. I'd read reviews in Guitartise of the new S2's and they were in stock, so it was a chance to have a look at them. There was also a fab second hand < a href='http://www.gordonsmithguitars.com/'>Gordon Smith> Les Paul in which I missed out on but that's another story. Anyhoo, I liked the Mira and ordered it, and it's a great guitar which I could have missed out on without time spent at Steven James. Now I'm looking for a new amp, and I think it's time for another visit...
