P4D | Parcels for Delivery

Always a pleasure

It helps that P4D is based in nearby Banbury, so using them is supporting local business, but I have used these guys to send parcels throughout the UK for a number of years and never been disappointed. Always efficient and the time and attention they have putting into their online service is obvious. Top marks!


A Great Lender with No Gimmicks

Been with Scottish Widows for many years as a customer and never once had call to regret my decision.

The staff are excellent: all UK based, all easily accessible through a short automated 'phone service. Interest rates are more than acceptable - never the lowest of the low but you get what you pay for.

Communications are always quick and efficient. You get exactly the information required and actions are swift and professional.

I sometimes have a look around to see what I would save by switching. Saving £20 a month but losing the efficient Widows service would be a step backwards for me, so we have stayed put to date. I can't see that changing.


Great Bank for Business (with No Borrowing)

Just about to complete my second year as a business customer with HSBC, and I have found their service more than acceptable. The branches are plentiful in my area, and the staff are very easy to deal with. Cash withdrawals are easy and the downloadable PDF statements and manual transaction data exports work flawlessly.

There are a few negatives. Charges for cash deposits are a bit of a joke, and use of cashpoints to withdraw cash can be pricey, but as my company is Limited and does most of its business online, that is not such a big deal.

The account can allegedly be synced with my Freeagent accounting software, but I've never got this to work satisfactorily and I have reasonable IT skills.

The security required to log in, by using a password-generating keyring widget can be a bit irritating, but if it makes my account more secure then I am happy to put up with it.

I don't use an overdraft or borrow from HSBC for business, I don't have a chequebook and I gave back their business credit card, but if your company just wants a simple, easy-to-use banking service with good personal service, ample branches available and handy extras on the side like electronic cheque lodgements, then HSBC is a bank I would recommend.


Pretty happy with Sky despite a few hiccups

Some bad reviews here for Sky but a lot of the negativity is directed at the install process. This is mostly carried out by subcontractors who want to work quickly and indeed my upgrade to Sky+ was of similar haphazard quality. I had to buy some tools and fix it myself!

However, since then, all is good. Broadband issues are resolved very professionally. The send a minimum of junk mail and the cost is not too bad given someone is generally always on the Internet or TV in this house.

I would definitely recommend Sky TV to a friend, and particularly Sky F1 HD! Good job Sky.

Chess Telecom

The Worst Service in UK Telecoms

I needed a second business line at home so contacted Chess Telecom. The sales guy was very helpful and signed me up no problem. Customer service since then has been utterly miserable.

Promised connection in 10-15 working days. A month later still not connected and Chess advised a minimum wait of three more weeks. I cancelled the contract and the embarrassed employee promised that the money they had already started taking by direct debit would be refunded.

Since then, no refunds but plenty more bills! The latest one has just arrived, for £282! I have emailed and sent letters to no avail. I am completely FED UP WITH CHESS TELECOM and will be making a formal complaint to CISAS first thing in the morning to get this sorted out.

My advice is pay the extra with BT, as they may be more expensive but they generally do what they say they'll do, when they say they'll do it. No one trying to run a small business and paying through the nose for slow broadband should have to deal with amateurs who can't pass simple customer status flags from contracts to accounts, and continuously charge for services not rendered due to incompetence/record overpromising.

I'm sorry to read this, we, like every other Communication Provider in the UK rely on Openreach to install new lines sometimes orders do get delayed.

However, we bill you and if we have this wrong, I'm sorry and we need to sort it out quickly.
