Have been waiting for a delivery from Hermes for the last 2 days, both times the tracking system says 'courier to reattempt delivery', despite no card being left or evidence of attempted delivery in the first place. I understand the courier may be over worked, but two days on the run is a bit of a joke I think.
When I wanted to phone them up in an attempt to have them chase up the order, I found out that if you are having a parcel delivered from an online retailer (ie most customers) then there is no customer support with hermes. You must contact the original retailer who will then contact hermes themselves, due to their 'contractual obligations' apparently, ie they want to make it a nuisance to enquire about your order. Not a very professional outfit at all.
Ordered a seat post clamp from them as they were the cheapest, I made sure to phone them up first to check the item was in stock (as there are no real stock levels available on the website) and after ordering the item arrived next day.
Would certainly use in the future, making sure to check the availability by giving them a call first.
I have used Amazon for many years and have always been delighted by their prices and levels of service. On the rare occasions I have had to return an item it has been dealt with in the quickest and smoothest of manners, a lot of companies could learn from their attitude towards their customers.
It is for these reasons that I generally buy from Amazon, knowing that it will be a stress free purchase.
Contrary to many others' experiences I am very happy with the service I received from DPD. The item arrived next day, I was able to keep up to date with the status of delivery from the website, and even received a text the morning of the delivery to state the parcel would be delivered between a certain time (hour timeframe) which it was. The driver was a very friendly bloke, chatting to me for several minutes after guessing the parcel contents to be MTB tyres.
It it certainly a level above others I have experienced, and I would look into using them when sending my own parcels in the future
